What is Copy Trading?

Copy trading lets you automatically replicate the trades of experienced traders (called "leaders") directly into your own account. When a leader opens or closes a position, the same action is executed for you — proportional to your allocated budget.

Non-Custodial
Your funds never leave your account. Dexly uses Hyperliquid agent wallets to execute copy trades on your behalf — you retain full custody at all times.

Unlike Hyperliquid native vaults (where you deposit into a shared pool), Dexly copy trading executes individual trades in your own wallet. This gives you full control over position sizing, risk limits, and the ability to close any trade at any time.

Choosing a Leader

The copy trading marketplace shows verified leaders with transparent performance data. Here are the key metrics to evaluate:

ROI (Return on Investment)

The leader's overall profit percentage. Look for consistent returns over time rather than one lucky trade.

Win Rate

Percentage of profitable trades. A 55-65% win rate with good risk/reward is strong — beware of 90%+ win rates that may indicate unclosed losing positions.

Total AUM

Assets Under Management — how much capital is already following this leader. Higher AUM signals community trust.

Max Drawdown

The largest peak-to-trough decline. Leaders with lower max drawdown tend to be more disciplined risk managers.

Configuring Your Copy Settings

When you follow a leader, you configure how your capital is deployed:

1
Budget Allocation

Set the total USDC amount allocated to this copy follow. Only this amount is used for copying — your remaining balance is untouched.

2
Position Size

Choose what percentage of the leader's position size to mirror. For example, if the leader opens a $10,000 trade and you set 50%, your position will be $5,000.

3
Max Leverage

Cap the maximum leverage for copied trades. Even if the leader uses 20x, you can limit your copies to 5x for a safer margin.

4
Slippage Tolerance

Set the maximum price deviation allowed when entering a copied trade. Tighter slippage protects you in volatile markets.

Risk Controls & Drawdown Protection

Dexly includes built-in risk controls so you never lose more than you're comfortable with:

Drawdown Protection
Set a maximum loss threshold (e.g., 15%). If your copy follow's cumulative losses reach this level, all copying is automatically paused and no new positions are opened.
  • Drawdown Limit: Auto-pause copying when cumulative losses hit your threshold. You can resume manually after reviewing.
  • Max Open Positions: Limit how many positions the copy can have open simultaneously to control portfolio concentration.
  • Max Leverage Cap: Override the leader's leverage to stay within your risk tolerance regardless of their strategy.

Managing Your Copy Trades

You have full control over your copy follows at all times:

  • Pause / Resume: Temporarily pause a copy follow without closing existing positions. Resume when you're ready.
  • Adjust Settings: Change your budget, position size, or risk limits at any time. Changes apply to future trades only.
  • Close Positions: Manually close any individual copied position at any time, independent of the leader.
  • Stop Following: Unfollow a leader entirely. You can choose to close all open positions or let them run.

Risk Warning: Trading perpetual futures involves significant risk of loss. Only trade with capital you can afford to lose. Dexly is a non-custodial interface; you are responsible for your own funds and trading decisions.
